Colorado comfortably rolls into Christmas Break on cruise control as the best hockey club in the world with an unprecedented (27-2-7) record. The Av’s are the most triumphant team in all of sports right now, and are on pace to break the Boston Bruins (65-12-5) record setting season in 2022-2023.
Colorado has yet again broken another NHL record with an astounding 61 points, which is the most ever before Christmas break.
When the season began, most sports analysts and fans couldn’t fathom witnessing Colorado playing at the elite level that they are performing. Peculiarly after transacting several roster moves during the off-season. At that point toward the end of this past summer, there were so many questions, and so much uncertainty. Now this team makes several other NHL teams look like feeder teams that don’t belong in the NHL.
Colorado remains unbeaten in regulation at home (15-0-2), they are 1st in the NHL in PK% at 85%, they’ve won 13 straight games in front of the home crowd with a 6-game winning streak overall. Scotty Wedgewood is (16-1-4) as a starter and leads all goalies in the NHL in GGA (2.01).
Nathan MacKinnon leads the NHL in goals at 30 (first player in the NHL with 30 goals), he also sits in 2nd place in points with 61 points, and Cale Makar is leading all defensemen in points with 43.
The Central Division is the Juggernaut division of the league with easily the most exceedingly stacked rosters having the most depth and cap space.
The Minnesota Wild had just newly acquired Superstar Defenseman Quinn Hughes and were on a 7-game winning streak, until Colorado walked in and walked all over Minnesota beating the Wild (5-1). A few days later, Colorado welcomed the Utah Mammoth at Ball Arena and sent them home with a goose egg.
The Avalanche will keep their boots on the neck of their opponent’s, unapologetically throat punch the entire NHL, and will resume their dominant performances this coming Saturday.
Colorado will be entering Nevada on a blistering hot 6-game winning streak against the Las Vegas Golden Knights on December 27th, with a chance to record their 2nd 7-game winning streak this season.
