The shutouts wouldn’t have been a reality if it weren’t for the impeccable trio of goaltenders Gwyneth Philips, Ava McNaughton, and Aerin Frankel. Homage must be paid to Aerin Frankel, as she became the first goaltender in history for women’s hockey in the Olympics to record three shutouts in a single tourney.

Speaking of high fives, five is the lucky number for the Americans this year. Five players on Team USA each scored a goal today with four of them in the 2nd period, naturally for the Americans. Three of those goals were within two minutes of each other. The 2nd period seems to be their favorite time of the game to tack pressure on to their opponents.
Team USA will be making their 8th straight appearance for a medal and awaits to see who the winner will be between Canada and Switzerland before the day’s end.
