An incredibly entertaining start to the season for the PWHL jumped off tonight as they ignited the highly anticipated “2025-26 DoorDash Takeover Tour” at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada.
Montreal Victoire and Toronto Sceptres displayed a theatrical showing with a dramatic ending that went down all the way to the wire with a stunning shootout.
Both teams scored during the first period and were the only regulation goals logged until it was time for the shootout. Marie-Philip Poulin took the first shot in OT and lit the lamp with a beautiful snipe that went stick side on Raygen Kirk.
Several shot-attempts later, and the last shot of the shootout, Sara Hjalmarsson almost buried one with a nasty double-deke backhand shot to save the day, but was stone-walled by Anne-Renee Desbiens with an incredible save that ended the contest giving Montreal the first victory of the tour.
Raygan Kirk and Ann-Renee Desbiens played lights-out and were two out of the three stars of the game.
Anne-Renee Desbiens – 35 saves on 36 shot attempts with a (.972SV%).
Raygan Kirk – 30 saves on 31 shot attempts with a (9.68SV%).
The first game of the tour was successful, and a spectacular night of hockey. The Scotiabank Centre sold out with 10,438 fans in attendance
The tour will continue in Chicago, IL on 12/21, which will be the 2nd game of the 16 total games on the tour.
