3-Game Series: Colorado Rockies vs. New York Yankees

The Colorado Rockies (47-81), coming off back-to-back losses against the Washington Nationals and now 1-7 in their last 8 road games, are headed to the East Coast for a short series against the New York Yankees (75-53). The Yankees, who effortlessly dominated the Cleveland Indians in back-to-back games, are heavily favored in what should be an unbalanced matchup, particularly on the mound, where the battle of the lefties favors the Yankees.

The Yankees’ bats have been strong at the plate, though occasionally inconsistent. However, facing Kyle Freeland, who has struggled recently, the Yankees shouldn’t have much trouble driving in runs and creating countless RBI opportunities, likely taking control within the first 5 innings. A couple of home runs from Aaron Judge, who boasts a .334 batting average, doesn’t seem too far-fetched either, especially considering the limited bullpen options for the Rockies. The Yankees’ lineup hasn’t missed a beat at the plate in months.

The Rockies, who are just 3-8 in their last 11 games, have been horrendous on the road, giving the Yankees the clear upper hand. It looks like the Rockies are headed for another disappointing series in New York. Adding to the excitement, this Saturday marks the Yankees’ 76th iteration of “Old-Timers’ Day,” celebrating the 15th anniversary of the 2009 World Series team, with a few of the players from that historic roster in attendance. All things considered, the outcome of this weekend’s series seems predictable.
