Best team in the league. What can’t this team do? How do you stop them?
The Avalanche can’t stop and won’t stop bringing the pain. It’s mid-December and Colorado is picking up the pace in every way possible from last month. In November, Colorado scored 50 even strength goals, which is more total goals scored than 27 other NHL teams.
Nathan MacKinnon recently became the Colorado Avalanche’s franchise leader (not including Quebec Nordiques) in goals, assists, and points. MacKinnon is only 30, which is diabolical, putting him ahead of Peter Forsberg, Joe Sakic, Milan Hejduk, and many other Colorado legends.
The Mountain Men remain on top of the league and became the first NHL team this season to 50 total points, Brent Burns has moved up in the record books, scoring the 9th most goals in NHL history for defensemen, and Nathan MacKinnon just hit the 900-career game mark, all while attaining to reach 51 points (24 goals & 27 assists) in 31 games played this season, also the most in the league.
Not to mention, this is the second year in a row where MacKinnon claimed King as the first player in the NHL to reach the 50-point mark, currently on pace to reach 67 goals if he continues firing at the rate that he has for the past couple of months. MacKinnon recorded multiple points in over half of the total games that he’s played this season with 15 goals in 29 games, so how do you slow him and Colorado down? You don’t.
It’s been sensational witnessing an outrageously skilled team such as the Av’s beat the breaks off every other team over and under (.500) that are supposed to be a threat. They are looking like a serious contender early on, giving the world a solid showing consistently.
