The Americans brought home 33 medals and finished 2nd behind Norway with 41 medals.

History repeats quite often. The female athletes kept the United States in the game for the 6th straight Olympic games, collecting more medals than the men for the total medal count, although the US finished 2nd behind Norway.
USA, China, and Russia (excluded from this year’s games), have the largest population of women, while several other countries don’t support their females the same way. Honoring the women athletes gives USA, Russia, and China the edge over almost all other countries when it comes to producing ambitiously aggressive female athletes.
Gold was the goal, and the United States were pushing and hustling hard with blood, sweat, and tears until the end.

2026 is indisputably the Golden Age for USA Hockey. Team USA dominated, and for the first time in history the men and women’s team brought home the gold for USA Hockey. Aerin Frankel shouldn’t go unmentioned and is the MVP for the women’s team, who faced 99 shots and only let 2 shots in the entire tournament.
Connor Hellebuyck was “The Great Wall of America” for the men’s team, making 2 very critical saves out of 33 total saves during the gold game that kept them in it to win it. Both teams finished the gold game beating Canada 2-1, with a pristine record through the tournament (Men’s Team 6-0, Women Team 7-0). So, it’s safe to say that the Americans have taken ownership of hockey in 2026.
USA finished with six gold medals behind Norway.
Hats off to Norway’s cross-country prodigy, Johannes Klaebo with an unprecedented performance, breaking an Olympic record going 6 for 6 while finishing in 1st place for the gold. Norway and the USA would’ve been tied for 1st place for gold medals if it weren’t for Klaebo who did the unimaginable, snagging six gold medals for cross-country skiing. For having less than 6 million people, Norway certainly flexed hard on the world stage in Milano Cortina. If the United States could figure out cross country skiing, Team USA would be right there with them.
USA Ski Team Legend Mikela Shiffrin has nothing left to prove.
As for Alpine Skiing, Colorado native, Mikaela Shiffrin (30). The drought is now over. Shiffrin is the undisputed Slalom Skiing GOAT for Team USA, and there was no one coming close to her colossal carve sessions in Milano Cortina. Unfortunately, Shiffrin had to perform at the highest level that she had ever competed at without having her father in attendance. She surely used that for fuel and motivation, because she was downright nasty, blowing the doors off her competition, turning and burning on each run.
Shiffrin’s mental toughness excelled and exceeded expectations. 2 years later, after dealing with so much in her personal life, she cruised her way to the top of the podium holding the gold medal for the first time since 2014 when she was only 18 years of age. Shiffrin’s slalom win by 1.50 seconds is the biggest margin in women’s slalom since 1988, when Vreni Schneider of Switzerland won by 1.68 seconds.
Big ups to Mikaela Shiffrin with a fantastic finish, who is now the first US skier with the possession of three Olympic medals. The most technically sound skier the world has ever seen, and the most decorated skier in Olympic history.
A Healthy Scratch on The Mountains and on the Ice.
All the various events in Milano Cortina gave the world a glimpse of the sheer amount of talent that the United States has produced in recent times who have all brought home the gold these past couple weeks.
It was remarkable watching Alysa Liu take the gold for figure skating in both the women’s singles after a 20-year drought, as well as the team events along with her teammates Madison Chock, Ellie Kam, Evan Bates, Ilia Malinin, and Danny O’Shea.
The “Cheetah on Ice” Jordan Stolz, was blazing and brought home two gold medals in the men’s 500 & 1000 meter, in addition to earning a silver medal in the 1500 meter.
The Legendary bobsledder, Elana Meyers Taylor at 41 years old became the oldest US woman to win individual Olympic gold at her 5th Games after her final flawless run on the course.
Breanna “Breezy” Johnson crushed the downhill ski racing event claiming a gold medal of her own. Skier Elizabeth Lemley found her way to the top of the podium with a gold medal ripping the moguls for Team USA.
American Freestyle skier Chris Lillis defied gravity and physics taking home his gold medal for Team USA in mixed team aerials. Alex Ferreira, freestyle halfpipe skier, secured his gold adding to his collection silver (2018) and bronze (2022).
The overwhelming amount of support for Team USA was gratifying. There were several American celebrity stars and athletes that were in attendance in Milano Cortina for the games, including Simone Biles, Tom Brady, Jason Kelce, Wayne Gretsky, Snoop Dogg, and many more supporting their fellow Americans.
Overall, this year’s Olympics were flat-out awe-inspiring for the youth of America who have the same aspirations to compete on the world stage, and fantastic for fans all over the world to be able to watch. The 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games was more than entertaining to say the least.
One for the books that’ll be acknowledged and talked about for a lifetime.
