LA Dodgers vs. BAL Orioles (8/29 – Night Game)

(Los Angeles, CA) Tonight promises a very evenly matched showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers, who lead the National League West with a 79-54 record, and the Baltimore Orioles, currently in 2nd place in the American League East with a 77-57 record. Both teams have strong lineups and are well-positioned to score plenty of runs, as they share identical team batting averages of .251.

In terms of home runs, the Orioles have the edge, having hit 201 homers compared to the Dodgers’ 181. Neither starting pitcher has been at their best so far this season, with Baltimore’s Cade Povich holding a 1-6 record and the Dodgers’ Bobby Miller at 1-3 as a starter.

Fortunately for Povich, he won’t have to face Jason Heyward, who was recently released by the Dodgers and picked up by Houston. However, Povich will need to be cautious when Shohei Ohtani steps into the batter’s box, as Ohtani has been a home run threat, going deep in three of the Dodgers’ last five night games. Even if Ohtani doesn’t hit a home run tonight, he’s likely to steal a base or two, as he’s been effortlessly rounding the bases all season. This game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair between these equally skilled ball clubs.
