The Colorado Rockies have expectedly endured another losing streak and attained a new heated rivalry this week with the San Francisco Giants. It comes as no surprise that the Rockies finished another 3-game series at home getting swept once again. On Tuesday night, Colorado set another embarrassing record losing to the Giants reaching 100 losses for the third straight year and continue to sit dead last in the league with a 39-101 record. The 2025 season has turned out to be discouraging to the entire organization, and disheartening for the die-hard fans who still choose to attend the home games.
The frustration for the Rockies is currently on full display after Giants Rafael Devers cracked a two-run homer in the first inning. Colorado Rockies Pitcher Kyle Freeland was heated and took exception to Devers for trash talking while taunting him as Devers trotted slowly to 1st base, which led to both teams clearing the benches to partake in a light scuffle at the mound. Kyle Freeland, Giants Rafael Devers and Willy Adames all received fines while Matt Chapman was handed a one game suspension for shoving Kyle Freeland during the scuffle.

The Giants are now 70-69, barely sitting above .500 and have now won nine of their last 10 games fighting for a spot in the playoffs, while the Rockies are looking to end the season as quickly as possible. The last few games of this series between these two teams couldn’t have had more than 10,000 fans in attendance each time during the short series. That clearly shows how painful it is to watch this ball club day in and day out. Imagine being a team having half of their games being played at home in a “batter friendly altitude” ballpark and still being close to 40 games under .500 with a run differential roughly around -350. Throw the whole team away and start from scratch at this point. The “Bud Black” firing made no difference, whatsoever. Now the Rockies will head on the road to San Diego for another three-game series before heading back home to face the LA Dodgers.
